Bismuth Manganese Alloy (BiMn)

Bismuth manganese alloy used as magnet for a longer time. The Bi-MnBi eutectic is recognised for its remarkable magnetic properties and recently considerable attention has been devoted to the effects of condition undercooling, magnetic field and low gravity conditions on its growth behaviour. Its growth mechanism and the details of the resultant microstructure are, however, still unclear, yet an understanding of these is essential in order to produce the desired optimum properties.
